Guitarists Vary and Mateusz

Origin

Inverne was founded in 2018 in Kraków, Poland, by guitarist and songwriter Wawrzyniec “Vary” Witkowski. Two years later, the collaboration of three musicians, second
guitarist and vocalist Mateusz and ex-bassist Michał resulted in the release
of The Gathering, introducing a sound rooted in melodic metal with progressive and gothic influences.

The following years brought important changes to the line-up. With the addition of Karolina on vocals and Kryspin on drums, Inverne shifted its focus towards live performances. Since then, the band has played a myriad of shows across Poland, sharing the stage with acts such as Sceptic, Banisher, Godslut, and ODC.

As the line-up evolved, so did the band’s musical direction. While staying true to its melodic foundations, Inverne embraced a heavier, more death metal-oriented sound, placing greater emphasis on aggressive riffs, melodic harmonies, dynamic songwriting, and powerful vocal performances, complemented by a gothic, eerie
atmosphere.

In 2024, the band’s sampled orchestral arrangements were replaced by live keyboards performed by Justyna Szatny, bringing a new dimension to Inverne’s sound. The current line-up was completed in 2025 with the addition of bassist Jakub Danielewicz, further strengthening the band’s rhythm section.

Today

Following years of writing, Inverne is preparing to release its second full-length album, The Black Moon Altar, in autumn 2026. The first singles, The Slave of My Flesh and Rise and Fall, introduce the band’s current direction, which appears to be heavier, darker, and more mature than ever before.

With an established live presence, an experienced line-up, and a clear artistic vision, Inverne continues to develop its own identity within the modern melodic death metal scene, combining melody, atmosphere, and intensity into music that is both powerful and profoundly immersive.
